According to the ‘Maybe it will be different abroad’ report (SIEM project), finance is a major barrier to mobility programmes, especially for students from less advantaged backgrounds. Grant levels are often not in line with real living costs and sometimes information about additional funding is not clear to find.

Small steps you can take
  • Visit the internationalisation page of your home university or make an appointment to get information about scholarships, grants and bursaries available to students and any eligibility requirements.
  • Be prepared by knowing what you are entitled to! The new Erasmus+ programme guide foreseen inclusion and green travel support. Check if the eligibility criteria apply to you!
  • Check the Erasmus+ Grant Simulator that allows you to estimate your Erasmus+ Grant, based on your mobility type, duration and location.
